Knollwood Cir., West Bloomfield. Guest speaker will be Prof. Harvey Babkoff of Bar-Ilan's department of psychology. Prof. Babkoff originated a special research project in Israel which has developed into a major rehabilitation program for disabled war veterans with severe head injuries. As a result of Prof. Babkoff's project, Is- rael's Defense Ministry has opened a rehabilita- tion center in Tel Aviv where the disabled study, undergo speech therapy, psychological counsel- ing, and perform as- sembling and other sub- contracted jobs from the electronics and building industries. Prof. Babkoff is a graduate of Ner Israel Rab- binical College in Baltimore and earned his MA and PhD in experimental psychology at Columbia University. Kaufman was a member of the planning committee of the conference which fo- cused on the need to inform young children of the realities of death, the Judaic approach to death, and the need for death edu- cation. More than 525 doctors, psychologists, nurses, social workers, spiritual leaders, funeral directors and other professionals attended the parley, the sixth annual interdisciplinary educa- tional conference on life- threatening illness, be- reavement and grief.
