ENERGY PLUS+ BILL PAYING ASSISTANCE.

HELP US
HELP YOU.

HAVING TROUBLE PAYING
YOUR ELECTRIC BILL?

Detroit Edison understands that
sometimes special problems arise that
make it difficult for customers to pay
bills on time—an illness,
loss of employment, an accident
or a disability.
If this happens to you, just visit,
telephone or write any Detroit Edison
Customer Office. Every office has
Customer Representatives who can
assist you with any bill payment
problem...and help you avoid over-
due bills that could result in a service
shutoff.
Here are some Detroit Edison
programs designed to help you keep
your electric service account
up-to-date.

BILL PAYMENT COUNSELING

Detroit Edison's Customer Repre-
sentatives will offer advice and assist-
ance and suggest ways to obtain aid
for paying bills through public
assistance programs such as social
service, welfare agencies or the
Michigan Heating Assistance Pro-
gram. So, call or stop in at any
Customer Office and talk things over.

PAYMENT PLANS

There may be a time when you are
temporarily having trouble paying
your Edison bill. Payment plans are
available for any overdue bill and can
be tailored to fit your. situation.

Other Detroit Edison Programs .
can help you avoid problems
arising from overdue bills:

DOUBLE NOTICE
PROTECTION PLAN

When you sign up for this Plan, you
will choose a relative, friend or
community agency to receive a copy
of any shutoff notice that may go to
you. The person or agency will be
able to contact you to find the cause
of difficulty and to help make payment
arrangements with Detroit Edison.
This Plan is especially helpful for the
elderly, the sick, the shut-in or per-
sons who spend extended periods of
time away from home.

SENIOR CITIZEN RATE

If you are 65 years or older and the
head of a household, this special rate
can help lower your electric bills if
you use less than 548 kilowatt-hours
a month-848 kilowatt-hours or less
if you have controlled electric water
heating combined on your regular
meter. If you want more information,
phone or stop in at any Customer
Office. A Customer Representative
will answer your questions and
suggest the rate which best meets
your needs.

WISE USE OF ELECTRICITY

Detroit Edison has a wide selec-
tion of booklets on how to make
the most of your electric dollar.
Just stop in at any Customer
Office and pick up what you need.
Detroit Edison does everything
possible to get in touch with you
when your electric bill is overdue
to see if you need help. But you
can help by getting in touch with
Detroit Edison.
Detroit Edison wants to do
everything in its power to keep the
power in your hands.
So please help us help you.

Detroit

Edison

president of American Uni-
versity in Washington,
former U.S. undersecretary
of state at the State De-
partment and principal
speaker at the dinner, took
a firm stand in support of
the policies pursued by
President Carter in the Ira-
nian situation. He strongly
backed the decision to pro-
vide the humanitarian med-
ical services in this country
for the Shah Pahlevi.
Dr. Sisco spoke at
length on the Middle East
situation, expressing
confidence that the
Sadat-Begin agreements
will come to fruition
within the assigned two-
year period. He ex-
pressed the hope that au-
tonomy for the West
Bank will be agreed
upon.
In his definitive state-
ment on the role of the AJ-
Committee in many defen-
sive areas, Gold read the
long statement that was
made by Jacobo Timerman
.1+; the San Francisco AJ-
Committee meeting com-
mending the organization
for its positive activities and
for the aid he received from
it in securing release from
Argentina to go to Israel.
Messages to Zuckerman
and his wife Helen included
commendations from
President Carter and Israel
Prime Minister Menahem
Begin.
Miles Jaffe, who presided,
made the presentation to
Zuckerman.
All the participants in
the program, including
Rabbis Irwin Groner and
Richard Hertz, who gave
the opening and closing
prayers, joined in honor-
ing Zuckerman and in
commending him on re-
ceiving the AJCommittee
Human Rights Award.
Zuckerman's reply was
autobiographical. He drew
upon his experiences to ex-
plain how he devoted him-
self to services of rendering
aid to the less fortunate and
he urged that there be "a
feeling for people" and a
widespread devotion to
human needs.

Carmi M.

Slomovitz,
president of Jewish Na-
tional Fund of Greater De-
troit, suggests buying trees
in Israel as Hanuka gifts.
The trees benefit Israel by
giving shade, aiding drain-
age, furnishing timber and
providing jobs, and provide
a security belt during war-
time.
To buy trees, call the JNF
office, 557-6644.
