The dinner was also the occasion to honor Abraham Gubin and his sister, Cypo- jra, for their contribution of 18,000 trees to be planted in the Rabbi Leo Jung Forest in Safed, Israel. The Gubins were presented with a plaque in recognition of their donation by Rabbi Emanuel Rothenberg, di- rector of the JNF religious department. Former Detroiter Edythe Colton Harrison recently was elected to the Virginia state legislature, the first Jewish woman in the his- tory of the state to be elected a member of the Virginia General Assembly. Mrs. Harrison will lead a Virginia mission to Israel in May in conjunction with the centennial celebration of ORT to be held in Jerusalem.
