students from Mercy College and Henry
Ford Community College who are preparing
for certification as record technicians.

Sinai has also provided training for students
from Mercy College preparing for
registration as registered record
administrators.

Respiratory Care

Sinai Hospital provides training in
respiratory care through affiliations with
Mercy College, Wayne State University and
Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital. Students from
Mercy College are trained for one to six
months, as part of their preparation for
registration as registered respiratory
therapists.

Students from Wayne State University are
trained in anesthetics, in preparation for

certification as certified registered nurse
anesthetists. Students from Mt. Carmel
Mercy Hospital are trained in preparation to
be certified as respiratory technicians.

Department of Psychiatry

Graduate students in psychiatric social work,
psychology, music therapy, occupational
therapy, recreational therapy, and
psychiatric nursing, receive instruction and
training through Sinai Hospital's psychiatric
program.

Students are from a variety of universities
and colleges throughout Michigan, including
Wayne State, Mercy College, Schoolcraft
College, University of Michigan, Eastern
Michigan University, and Oakland
University.

Rehabilitation Medicine

Sinai Hospital's Department of
Rehabilitation Medicine serves as the clinical
training site for students in speech
pathology, physical therapy and
occupational therapy.

Department of Pharmacy

Sinai Hospital provides the clinical training
site for interns in pharmacy for two years.
These students are in their fourth and fifth
years of pharmacy school at Wayne State
University and Michigan State University.
They work at the hospital on a part-time
basis, in preparation for registration as
registered pharmacists.

In addition, Sinai offers residency positions
for registered pharmacists seeking
postgraduate training in either clinical or
administrative pharmacy.

Sinai Hospital also has a unique program in
inpatient drug distribution which was
developed to improve performance and
minimize errors. This program incorporates
the use of pharmacists on the nursing units,
to provide information and assistance to
nurses, physicians and patients.

Social Service

The Sinai Hospital Department of Social
Service is accredited as a clinical training site
for graduate training in social work.
Students come to Sinai from Wayne State
University and the University of Michigan.
