Sinai provides Graduate Medical Education Programs for medical and dental students as well as nursing and allied health training programs. As participants in the Quadrangle, Sinai shares in two joint residency programs in orthopedics and plastic surgery. Graduate Medical Education For its medical and dental students, Sinai Hospital provides residency programs in Anesthesiology, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery. General Surgery, Laboratory Medicine. Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology. Ophthalmology. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dentistry, Psychiatry, Diagnostic Radiology, Therapeutic Radiology. Research and Rehabilitation Medicine. Nursing and Allied Health Training Programs Shapero School of Nursing The Shapero School of Nursing, which is owned and operated by Sinai Hospital, provides a one-year training program in practical nursing. Graduates of the Shapero School are prepared to take the licensed practical nursing (LPN) examinations. Sinai Hospital is the clinical site for the Shapero students (with the exception of a rotation through Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital for pediatrics experience). Laboratory Medicine Sinai Hospital is the clinical training site for Wayne State University students in medical technology. The Department of Laboratory Medicine operates a highly sophisticated computer system as an integral part of the patient information system which provides students with a unique experience in sophisticated laboratory operations. 18 Supplement to the Jewish News Radiology Affiliated with Ferris State College, Sinai Hospital provides the clinical training for the second year internship for radiologic and nuclear technologists. At the end of the internship. students are awarded an Associate Bachelor's Degree in science, and are prepared to take the registration examination to qualify as registered radiologic and registered nuclear technologists. Department of Nursing Sinai Hospital provides the clinical training setting for nursing students from Mercy College and Wayne State University. These students are enrolled in baccalaureate programs in professional nursing, in preparation to be registered nurses. In addition, Sinai has served as the clinical site for post graduate master's and doctorate level nurses, who are being trained in clinical specialty areas or in nursing education. Medical Records The Medical Records Department of Sinai Hospital serves as the training site for
