is a multidisciplinary program for evaluating patient's needs for head and neck surgery. Sinai Hospital is one of only a few hospitals that provides 24-hour emergency dental care services. A dental clinic is conducted through the Shiffman Clinic program for residents of the community. Oncology Program The oncology program involves the many subspecialties of medicine, surgery, gynecology, radiology and pathology which are available at Sinai Hospital. Among the most notable are sophisticated radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hematologic oncology, gynecologic surgery and oral and maxillofacial surgery, including the head and neck program. In addition, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine provides care to oncology patients in need of restorative services, particularly following radical surgery. Michigan. The program, which includes inpatient and outpatient services, provides services in diagnostic cardiology, preventive cardiology and critical care. As part of our sophisticated cardiology service, Sinai operates an active cardiac catheterization laboratory, where patients are evaluated and diagnosed, prior to cardiovascular surgery, when indicated. Provided both on an inpatient and outpatient basis, cardiac rehabilitation is a significant component of the total program in cardiovascular care. The second and third phases of this program are provided in conjunction with the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental Services Sinai Hospital provides a unique service in oral and maxillofacial surgery as well as a comprehensive dental service. The oral and maxillofacial surgery program includes a cleft palate clinic; maxillofacial reconstructive surgery; use of the laser in oral surgery; development of the mandibular staple (which was a nationally acclaimed clinical application of Sinai's research efforts in the mandibular joint area); and a head and neck program, which As a member of the Quadrangle, Sinai Hospital is closely involved with the development of Hospice of Southeast Michigan, Inc., a nonprofit corporation organized to provide a comprehensive supportive program for terminally ill patients. Ophthalmology Service The ophthalmology program at Sinai Hospital is a comprehensive service, provided on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. The program has a strong research component primarily involving clinical applications of the laser. Several specialty services are provided including the Low Vision Clinic; Retinal Clinic; treatment of external eye disease; Contact Lens Clinic; orthoptics; ultrasound; laser procedures; Stephanik arteriograph; Fluorescein angiography; and Xenon photocoagulation. Specialty procedures, including intraocular lens implantations, are also provided. Radiology Program In support of its many services, Sinai Hospital provides sophisticated radiology services in diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine/ultrasound and radiation therapy.
