IN TRANSITION
Moving From Our First
Quarter Century to the Next
The year 1979 can be marked in the history
book of Sinai Hospital of Detroit as a year
of transition. It has also been a year of
growth and progress, of planning and
decision for the future.
It has been an exciting year. A milestone
year.
This year, Julien Priver, M.D., chief
executive officer of Sinai Hospital since its
inception more than a quarter of a century
ago, announced his retirement. On April 1,
Dr. Priver relinquished his responsibilities to
Vice President/Administration Irving A.
Shapiro.
When the Board of Trustees announced the
promotion of Mr. Shapiro to Executive
Vice-President, Board President Alfred L.
Deutsch stated: "The Board finds it
gratifying to promote a member of Sinai's
own staff to this most respected position .. .
the Board feels confident that Mr. Shapiro
will maintain the excellent leadership and
guidance that his predecessor has provided
for nearly three decades."
The history of Sinai Hospital unfolds as the
accomplishments of Dr. Priver are noted. A
new chapter begins as Mr. Shapiro leads the
way into yet another quarter century of
excellence.
