10-year-old Scott Litt, son of

Those who remember al-
ways saw Rose at the cash
register on Seven Mile and
Schaefer . . . It didn't seem
like Sol's unless Rose was
there . . . Now Sol's son
Dave and grandson Scott
are following the deli ways.
Rose's husband, Jack,
and herself, used to own
Love's Delicatessen on
Linwood between Rich-
ton and Monterey in the
early'30s.
Sol's back in 1956 used to
give a .three-ounce sand-
wich for 55 cents . . . Today
he gives a five-ounce sand-
wich and retains the same
quality and taste by doing
his own cooking . . . plus the
rebaking of hot, crispy
bread, a process of which Sol
was an originator.

MAIL DEPT. . . . "As a
former Farmington Hills
resident (born and raised in
Detroit) I have lived in New
York almost two years. I re-
ceive my Jewish News
every week and when I saw
your first sentence about
corned beef sandwiches and
New York, I had to tell you I
agree with you.
"I will say though that as
Michigan residents living
in a small Jewish area
(Michigan), we were used to
having just a few delis and
they were good (Stage and
the deli at 12 Mile and Tele-
graph). In New York, the -
Jewish area is so vast that
you really have to go to
many before one can com-
pare to Michigan's delis or
even baked goods.
"Next time you are in
New York, you might try
the Carnegie near 57th St.
It's expensive but good. I am
not affiliated in any way
with the Carnegie, but it's
on par with what we are
familiar with. The owner is
a character who, by the way,
does commercials."

Also hard, to beat is hav-
ing a wonderful waitress
