ganized a seminar on "Art
and the Bible" at the Society
of Biblical Literature Meet-
ings in New York. In addi-
tion, he has been invited to
become a regular member of
the newly-created Zionist
Academic Council which
will meet three times a year
in New York.

18 for the fall board meeting
of the National Federation
of Temple Brotherhoods
(NFTB).
Programs and projects to
intensify involvement of
laymen in congregation and
interfaith activities while
meeting the needs of the
Jewish family today will be
planned.
Presiding at the five-day
session will be Lawrence M.
Halperin, of Memphis,
president of NFTB, service
organization of 500 Reform
Jewish temple brother-
hoods.
A training workshop
for temple brotherhood
leaders in the Detroit
area will be conducted
Wednesday. Theme of the
meeting will be "NFTB
and the Local Brother-
hood — A Mutuality of
Interest."
Rabbi Dannel Schwartz,
Temple Beth El, will ad-
dress the opening board
dinner. Rabbi Milton
Rosenbaum of Temple
Emanu-El, will address a
board luncheon Thursday
on- "Blacks and Jews —
Where We Agree and Must

Falls Through

A wealthy Jewish refugee
from Iran has broken off
negotiations to purchase
the Raddison Cadillac Hotel
in downtown Detroit.
The refugee was iden-
tified as Askander Aryah, a
supporter of the deposed
Shah of Iran and owner of
Iranno Tile Co. in Teheran.
Detroit's Bank of the
Commonwealth, which is
controlled by First Arabian
Corp., controls the Raddison
Cadillac.
