Anti-Zionist Council for Judaism Sets Stand on Israel Involvement

The anti-Zionist Ameri-
can Council for Judai3m si-
c lent for some time, this
week resumed its ideologi-
cal approach to Jewish-
Israel relations with a
statement regarding politi-
cal involvements by Ameri-
can Jews.
Its national executive
committee in New York
criticized political activities
"of American Jewish or
her groups which aim for
automatic acceptance of Is-
raeli government policy de-
cisions."
Clarence L. Coleman, Jr.,
president of the council,
said, "American Jews are
not political satellites of any
Jewish national entity, and
they should reject efforts by
any group to make them
take a partisan stance. That
kind of stance would un-
doubtedly be counter-
- productive to the best inter-
ests of both the United
States and the state of Is-
rael."
Coleman said it is obvi-
ous that these "best
interests" are served
when Israel is at peace,
and that the council
applauds the efforts of
the state of Israel to pro-
vide security and a
peaceful existence for
those who choose to live
there.
In a statement of the posi-
tion that will guide its pro-
gram in the year ahead, the
national executive commit-
tee said it believes that the
council's "concern for the
welfare and security of co-

religionists in Israel and
elsewhere is shared by
countless Americans of
Jewish faith, as is its oppo-
sition to the world terrorism
of the Palestine Liberation
Organization and its corn-

jectives in all nations.
"It will also oppose efforts
by any organization or by
the state of Israel to treat
American Jews as a
monolithic group that is
dominated by Jewish

One hundred Arab business

American counterparts at
the New York Hilton next

Conference.
In addition to New York,
the Arab delegation will
visit Chicago, Houston and
Washington.
The delegation will be led

TEL AVIV (JTA) — The
increasing importance of
Arab laborers to Israel's
workforce was made appar-
ent last Wednesday when
large numbers of them
failed to show up for their
jobs. They took the day off to
celebrate the Moslem feast
of Id el Adha.
As a result, many fac-
tories were short-handed
and many hotels and res-
taurants were unable to
provide full service to their
patrons. Mosques in Arab
townships in Israel and in
the occupied territories
were jammed.
