Jewish Congress national
committee on Israel and a
member of the national
executive committee and
governing council, will be
the featured speaker at an
AJCongress meeting
8 p.m. Thursday at Temple
Emanu-El. He will discuss
the Middle East. The meet-
ing is open to the public.
Lipsky is a lawyer and
author. He is former
president and chairman of
the board of the Jewish
Telegraphic Agency.

The society, part of the
New Leadership Division of
Israel Bonds, has already
attracted hundreds of young
people who wish to help ad-
vance Israel's internal de-
velopment through the pur-
chase of a minimum of
$1,000 in Bonds.
The
award-winning
Hamlisch launched the
Sabra Society's activities
last summer- at a gala at
"New York, New York," the
Manhattan disco.
In accepting the Michi-
gan Sabra Society lead-
ership role, Deutch said,
We hope to attract here
in Michigan, as has hap-
pened in Ne
w York, a
broad-based group from
all segments of our com-
munity."
Deutch is forming a foun-
der's group of 50 for the

Dr. Maxmen, a spe-
cialist in endodontics,
was the founding
president of the Michigan
Association of
Endodontists and the re-
cipient of the Merit
Award from the Detroit
District Dental Society.
He is currently a consul-
tant at Sinai Hospital's den-
tal division, a consultant for
the Detroit District Dental
Society Educational Di-
vision and a guest lecturer
at Wayne State University.
He and his wife Ethel are
founders of the Dental
School at Hebrew Univer-
sity. He is one of the found-
ers of Men's ORT-Detroit
Chapter and is an active
leader in the Allied Jewish
Campaign and the Israel
Bond program. He received
citations of honor for his
participation in the ZOA
Balfour Concert, and he and
his wife have donated an
ambulance to Israel's
Magen David Adom.
Luncheon chairman is
Dr. Leo Shipko, who is
also a member of the In-
ternational Alpha Omega
"Year of Israel" Steering
Committee.
