JERUSALEM — Re-
search in industrial sociol-
ogy and community welfare
at the Hebrew University
will be stepped up in the
wake of last month's estab-
lishment of the Shaine Cen-
ter for Research in Social
Sciences and the Sarah
Allen Shaine Chair in
Sociology.
Shaine, a prominent
member of the New York
Stock Exchange, has been
an ardent Zionist all his life.
He established the chair in
the name of his late wife,
who was a sociologist.

AMSTERDAM (JTA) —
A special working group has
presented the Ministry of
Cultural and Social Affairs
with plans to erect a small
monument to the memory of
over 100,000 Dutch Jews
deported by the Nazis dur-
ing World War II.
