Children Focus
of Mall Events
A variety of special
events, including puppet
shows, a magician, story tel-
ling for children and films
and seminars will highlight
the International Year of
the Child celebration at
Northland Mall through
Sunday.
The International Year of
the Child celebration is
jointly sponsored by the
mall and Encyclopedia
Britannica — USA.
Michael Thornton, magi-
cian, will perform two
shows Saturday. At 1:30
p.m. Sharon Newman, star
of the WDIV-TV show,
"Double Dip Sunday," will
present a puppet show. This
will immediately precede a
2 p.m. panel discussion,
"Who's Raising My Chil-
dren, the Professional, the
Media or Me?"
A series of films will be
shown on a rotating basis
beginning at 9:30 a.m.,
10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Re-
productions of the winning
entries from a world-wide
competition of children's art
will be on display during the
event.
