Adapted for Television

"If Not Higher," a musical
play based on the Y.L.
Peretz folk tale will be seen
10 a.m. Sunday on Channel
4 and 3 p.m. Sunday on
Channel 56. The program
was produced by the Jewish
Community Council in
cooperation with WDIV,
Channel 4.
The play has been
adapted for television by
Rabbi Efry Spectre,
spiritual leader of Adat
Shalom Synagogue, who
composed the original
music and arranged and
conducted all of the music
for the television special.
Paul Winter will portray
the narrator. Sandy Vieder
is the rabbi, and Erit Gill,
the Litvak; Elizabeth Al-
pern, the old woman; How-
ard and Steven Lupovitch,
the cantors; and Stevan
Levy will appear in the solo
role. Leonard Jacobson will
portray the shammas.
