ly's on Orchard Lake Rd. be-
tween 12 and 13 Mile, but
closer to 13 . . . A huge
theatrical marquee on the
building booms out the
name Darlin' Lilly . . . while
another sign that used to
quietly say Starboard Tack
and then Eastman's Land-
ing now reads, "Saloon,
Good Spirits, Good Food,
Good People, Good Times."
Only recently open (Aug.
13), Darlin' Lilly's is named
after free-spirited Lilly
Langtree, international
darling of royalty, etc., who
was, according to owner Pat
Campbell, the epitome of
womanhood . . . doing what
she wanted to do.
Pat is doing what she
wants to do also . . . and
loves every bit of it . . . as
owner of Darlin' Lilly's .. .
assisted by daughter Sue
and son Jim.
A mirror over the bar
has folded-back stage
curtains seemingly
frosted into it . . . with
Lilly Langtree on stage

places ... nude portraits

rooms with private inti-
macy ... All lights have
been changed from white
to amber and pink.

exactly the place to go for a
big meal, although every
day and evening it has one
special fish lunch or dinner
. It's a great place for
snacks and after-theater
fun . . . casual atmosphere
. . . nothing fancy.
The unusual limited
menu has five omelettes,
'three home-made soups,
three salads and six burgers
. . . One item is a huge
baked potato topped with
bar-b-qued beef, cheddar
cheese and chopped onions.
There's an open-faced
steak sandwich, large -
open-faced prime rib sand-
wich, turkey, ham, club and
French dip sandwiches .. .
Most expensive on the menu
is the open-faced steak at
$6.95.
Naturally, there's a Lil-
ly's Special Sandwich ...
crabmeat burger
crabmeat mixture with
cheddar cheese and bean
sprouts served on a long
bun.
Only one dessert . ._. Lilly
Langtree's favorite that she
might have ordered at De-
lmonico's in New York or
one of the many elegant
places she visited in
America and Europe . . . It's
a Banana Split Cake .. .
bananas, pineapple, cher-
ries, walnuts and Graham
cracker crust.
Pat Campbell loves life
. . . She loves her new place,
oozing with excitement and
effervescence while talking
about it . . . She loves people
and loves to see them enjoy-
ing themselves . . . With
this kind of combination
behind ae place catering to
the public, it is hard to envi-
sion anything but success
for Pat. Darlin' Lilly's is the
kind of place you just know
you'll have a good time.
Pat Flowers is at the
piano Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday, 5:30 to 10:30
. . . Friday 7 to 12 . . . and
Saturday 8 to 1.
A BIRMINGHAM nit-
ery owner says he doesn't
have "handicapped park-
ing" because he isn't re-
quired to.
NEW OWNERS OF the
Raven Gallery on Green-
field and 12 Mile, Joe
Kesner and Mike Schwartz,
intend to follow in the
Raven's tradition of keep-
ing the coffeehouse atmos-
phere and high quality
entertainment . . . Former
owner Kitty Cohen will stay
on the rest of the year as a
consultant.
GEORGE YOUNG will
soon be seen in the upcom-
ing NBC movie "Jimmy B
and Andre" featuring Alex
Karras.
CAROL EDLUND,
former catering sales man-
ager at Michigan Inn, has
been elevated to director of
catering at the hotel . . . re-
sponsible for all functions
held there.
