Assistant Director Named by Jewish National Fund
Alan Herbach has 'been
appointed assistant director
of the Michigan region,
Jewish National Fund, it
was announced by Carmi
Slomovitz, president.
Herbach earned a mas-
ter's degree in international
affairs at Columbia Univer-
w
sity, where he specialized in
Middle Eastern studies and
international media and
communications.
He earned a BA degree in
international relations and
telecommunications at the
James Madison College at
Michigan State University.

He has worked at radio
and television stations
throughout the country.
In 1974, as a participant
in the first year of Project
JOIN, a Jewish occupa-
tional internship program
sponsored by the Jewish
Vocational Service of Met-
ropolitan Detroit, Herbach
served as assistant to the
associate director of the
Jewish Community Center.
He was the editor and coor-
dinator of the first edition of
"A Guide to Jewish De-
troit."
In Portland, Ore., he
served with the Oregon
Committee for UNICEF,
and is a member of the
board of directors of the
United States Committee
