"The Jewish Experiential
Book"..by Bernard Reisman
(Ktav) is a volume that
genuinely responds to the
growing interest in Jewish
identity in contemporary
society.
The book opens with an
analysis of Jewish identity
and the factors which ac-
count for the current
"Jewish Renaissance." The
introduction also offers a
coherent statement of the
experimental educational
principles which the book
uses.
The volume contains 10
chapters of unique and orig-
inal activities and games
each of which deals with
different aspects of the
Jewish experience. Reis-
man presents nearly 250 ac-
tivities which can be used
by teachers, group leaders,
social workers, rabbis, camp
counselors and individual
families.
Reisman is an associate
professor of American
Jewish Communal Studies
at Brandeis University and
has done extensive research
on Jewish identity. .His
previous books include:
"The Havurah: A Contem-
porary Jewish Experience"
and "Reform Is a Verb."

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Rabbi Dabi Maatuk, a
member of the Tel Aviv
rabbinical committee, left
last week for Egypt to help
Egyptian Jews to set up a
new kosher system.
Maatuk, who served
until 20 years ago as the
Chief Rabbi of Alexandria,
went on his mission to
Egypt at the initiative of the
religious services bureau of
the World Zionist Organiza-
tion and Sephardic Chief
Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.
Maatuk will stay in Egypt
two months.
He will look into the con-
dition of the synagogues,
the Jewish cemeteries, and
the community institutions
in various cities, particu- - •
larly in Cario and Alexan-
dria. He took with him a
number of ritual articles as
gifts for the Egyptian
Jewish community.
