TunsGuide' Hoped to Aid
Israeli Exports to the U.S.

New Year to all our relatives and friends

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Adelsberg
and Daughter

NEW YORK — Dun &
Bradstreet International
has published a 500-page
directory, "DunsGuide Is-
rael," which lists some
2,000 products and services
offered by about 4,000 Is-
raeli business and indus-
trial firms.
Marc Gueron, general
manager for Dun &
Bradstreet in Israel, said
the book is "the only direc-
tory of its kind for Ameri-
cans, Europeans, and others
who want to-import from Is-
rael, export to that country,
or invest there."
The single volume is in
five languages — English,
French, German, Spanish
and Hebrew. There are
three sections. One provides
basic credit-type data for
each Israeli company, in-
cluding sales, number bf
employees, names of lead-
ing executives, and details
on products and services.
The second 4gt ction lists
products and services in
alphabetical order and
shows the names and ad-
dresses of companies
providing these products
and services. The third
section is a Hebrew-
English glossary of busi-
ness names.
The book was assembled
and developed over the past
18 months with the coopera-
tion of the government of Is-
rael through a public advi-
sory board formed in
January 1978.
The guide is expected to
help Israel improve both its
exports and imports and to
attract increased invest-
ment in the country. U.S.

PARIS (ZINS) — King
Hassan of Morocco, speak-
ing on French television, re-
cently described his media-
tion between the U.S. and
the PLO with the following
quote attributed to Jimmy
Carter:
"You tell the Palestinians
that if they will recognize
UN Resolution 242 at 8
o'clock in the morning, that
I am ready by 10 o'clock in
the morning of that same
day to issue an official invi-
tation to the White House."
Hassan declared that he
had transmitted that in-
formation to the Palesti-
nians and added, "The
Palestinians do feel a sense
of responsibility, but it is in
the nature of an abstract
concept. They simply are
not capable or in a position
to reach a decision if it con-
cerns the signing of a docu-
ment."
Hassan further disclosed
that he had assisted Sadat
in his peace negotiations
with Israel, but at the pre-
sent time does not consider
himself as supportive of the
peace treaty because he sees
it as a "separate peace
which does not take into ac-
count the Arab world." Has-
san nevertheless said that
he remains a friend of Sadat
and that he is in favor of a
continuing dialogue with
Israel.

exports to Israel last year
amounted to $1.1 billion.
U.S. imports from Israel in
1978 were $600 million and
are expected to increase to
$750 million this year.
About 70 percent of Is-
rael's exports to the U.S.
are being made to North-
eastern states. With the
assistance of the new
"DunsGuide," Israel is
aiming to penetrate mar-
kets in the South, West
and Midwest, with a
major thrust among re-
tail chains.
"DunsGuide Israel" will
be updated every two years.
Dun & Bradstreet has
had an office in Tel Aviv for
about 15 years. The corn-
pany's services there in-
clude business credit infor-
mation reporting, market-
ing services and commercial
collection.
Gueron said, "The aver-
age American businessman
still associates Israel
primarily with diamonds
and the Jaffa orange. Get-
ting the busy American
businessmen to know that
Israel produces technologi-
cally sophisticated products
is not an easy matter. For
example, how many people
are aware that Elscint Ltd.,
a science-based industry lo-
cated in Haifa, is selling
some of the most advanced
electronic scanners to hos-
pitals in the U.S.? Is it
known that Israeli
aeronautical products, in-
cluding the Westwind
Executive Jet, have found a
market in the U.S.?"
He added, "Israel has the
variety of products and the
quality needed to meet the
stringent demands of the
American buyers."

Jordan - PLO
State Proposed?

WASHINGTON — King
Hussein of Jordan and the
Palestine Liberation
Organization have revived
the idea of reuniting the
Israeli-occupied West Bank
with Jordan proper, accord-
ing to Newsweek magazine.
Arab sources say that
Hussein will present the
proposal to President Car-
ter at a meeting in Wash-
ington later this month. Ac-
cording to those sources, the
Jordanian king will also as-
sure Carter that the PLO is
finally willing to recognize
Israel's right to exist, under
an "amended" version of
UN Security Council Reso-
lution 242.
