Shaarey Zedek on Sunday night. Lieberman spoke of the many activities of the Labor Zionist Organization and the creative efforts of the organization in the more than 70 years of activities as builders of settlements and the integration of halutzim in the Jewish homeland. His wife, Pearl, added her thanks to the gathering for establishing the Morris and Pearl Lieberman dormitory at Urim, in Kiryat Tivon, Israel. Their daughter, Judith Wiser, spoke for the family in expressing gratitude for the honors to the parents. Bernard Jacobson, execu- tive vice president of the National Labor Israel movement, who made the presentation to the Lieber- mans of an expressive plaque denoting the honors accorded them, added to Lieberman's evaluations of the Labor Zionist accom- plishments. Proclamations from Gov- ernor William Milliken and Mayor Coleman Young were among the tributes to the Liebermans read at the dinner. Judge Michael Stacey was the toastmaster and the co-chairmen were Isidore Shrodeck and Abram Medow. U.S. Senator Alan Cranston of California, guest speaker, spoke with confidence of the U.S. friendship for Israel. He said he was certain the necessary assistance will come forth and he stated in part: The U.S. should not set any artificial deadlines for the Israeli-Egyptian peace process. The Carter Administra- tion, which did so much to bring about the Camp David peace agreement, sometimes shows an unfor- tunate tendency to want to push Israeli Prime Minister Menahem Begin and Egyp- tian President Anwar el- Sadat too fast, from their standpoint. I think Special Middle East Ambassador Robert Strauss has finally gotten the President and the State Department to realize that's a mistake." The invocation was given by Rabbi Richard C. Hertz of Temple Beth El and the benediction by Msgr. Cle- ment Kern. Participating speakers in honor of the Liebermans in- cluded David Lebenbom, vice president of the Jewish Community Council; Nor- man Naimark, president of the Labor Zionist Alliance; Next to being shot at and missed, nothing is really quite as satisfying as an income tax refund." —F.J. Raymond Ruth Miller, president of the Greater Detroit Council of Pioneer Women; and George Watts, secretary- treasurer of the Michigan AFL-CIO. Disco Parties by mus4114 .
