Toby S. Laker, an active Banking Leader
in Service for 48 Years
member in many levels of
NEW YORK — Andre

Albert Curtis, who re-
tired in 1962 as superinten-
dent of the Fisher Building
post office, died Sept. 8 at
age 87.
Mr. Curtis was in charge
of U.S. Postal services in the
Penobscot Building for a
number of years, before as-
suming the Fisher Building
responsibilities, and he was
then in contact with the
most prominent per-
sonalities in Detroit. When
th-v spoke of "The Post-

fe,..o.ori to Albert Curtis, the
genial post office represen-
tative.
He was an active leader in
Jewish War Veterans and

held several important
offices in local JWV posts.
For many years he was
an active participant in
Cong. Beth Moses, prior
to its merger with Cong.
Beth Abraham Hillel.
Mr. Curtis was a past
commander and adjutant of
the Julius Rosenwald Post
of the American Legion, a
50-year member of Ashlar
Lodge of the Masons, Pisgah
Lodge of Bnai Brith and the
Hannah Schloss Old Tim-
ers.
During World War H Mr.
Curtis was an adviser to the
selective service in Wayne
County.
He leaves his wife, Belle.

age 63.
Mrs. Laker was past
president of the Louis Mar-
shall Chapter of Bnai Brith
and a member of the Louis
Marshall Benevolent Fund
and Purity Chapter, Order
of the Eastern Star. Mrs.
Laker also was a counselor
to the Bnai Brith Girls
organization. She resided at
29105 Southgate, South-
field.
She is survived by her
husband, James; two sons,
Martin and Kenneth; two
daughters, Mrs. Sheldon
(Dorothy) Decker and
Roberta S. of Scottsdale,
Ariz.; two brothers, Joseph
Gaba and Dr. Howard Gaba;
and six grandchildren.

Gottlieb was a member of

Julius Rosenwald Post of

in efforts on behalf of Israel
Bonds.
He leaves his wife, Anne;
a son, Alfred of Grand
Rapids; three brothers, Alex

and Sam; a sister, Mrs. Til-
lie Smolinsky; three
grandchildren and one
great-grandson.

N. Franzblau, a psychol-
ogist and former syndicated
newspaper columnist, died
Sept. 2 at age 77.
Dr. Franzblau hosted a
radio program and with her
husband, Dr. Abraham N.
Franzblau, she was a finan-
cial backer of 120 Broadway
and off Broadway plays, in-
cluding "Fiddler on the
Roof' and "A Funny Thing
Happened on the Way to the
Forum."
She became a member of
the advisory board of the
psychology department of
Hebrew University of
Jerusalem in 1967.Dr.

Jerusalem. Police are inves-
tigating the incident.

tiac, died Sept. 9 at age 40.
A native Detroiter, Dr.
Eisenberg was graduated in
1964 from the University of
Detroit's dental school. He
was a member of the Ameri-
can Dental Association and

Society. He also was an ad-
junct professor at the U-D
Dental School.
Dr. Eisenberg leaves his
wife, Patty; a son, Steven,
