Author Ruth Gruber to Speak Sisters Honor Woman's Role Vegetable Stew

Ruth Gruber, author and
foreign correspondent, will
address the opening lunch-
eon of Temple Israel Sister-
hood at noon Sept. 17 in the
temple. She will speak on
"Israel — Today and To-
morrow. -
Ms. Gruber is the author
of five books on Israel, based
on her 29 trips there. Her
latest work "Raquela, A
Woman of Israel," was pub-
lished on Israel's 30th an-
niversary.
This program is under the
auspices of the Daniel M.
Sophie Hass Memorial

Franka Charlupski will be
tendered a "tocla raba —
thank you" luncheon by her

Tuesday at the Dorfmans'
Franklin home.
Guest speaker at the
luncheon will be Ruth
Gruber, author and foreign
correspondent, whose most
recent book, "Raquela: A
Woman of Israel," won the
National Jewish Book
Award as the "best book on
Israel."
Mrs. Charlupski is the
out-going chairman of the
Metropolitan Detroit Israel \
Bond Women's Division.
She has held the women's
division top leadership role
for three years and will con-
tinue her Israel Bond in-
volvement as a member of
the Women's Division
executive committee..
In addition to her in-
volvement in the Bond
organization, Mrs. Char-
lupski is a life member of
the Bnai Brith Einstein
Chapter, a life member of
Hadassah, Pioneer
Women and American
Mizrachi Women.

eon and fashion show spon-
sored by the Wayne County
Osteopathic Association is
scheduled for Sept. 25 at
Vladimir's, 28125 Grand
River, Farmington.
The theme of this year's
show honors the Interna-
tional Year of the Child and
the proceeds will go the
association's national
scholarship fund and the
student loan fund.

3 medium potatoes (diced)
2 tbsps. oil
2 tomatoes (cut in - eighths)
3 small turnips (thinly sliced)
1 tsp. Italian herb seasoning
1/2 tsp. salt
Brown onions, zucchini and
potatoes in oil. Add remaining
ingredients. Cook covered
over low heat until potatoes
and turnips are soft. Do not
overcook. Serves 5.
