LISTENING
POST

TWO INVITATIONS
. . . "It's a Knockout" and
"Our Date. Got Knocked
Out" (rescheduled for an-
other time) was the seem-
ingly very much good luck
party given by Jackie and
Michael Kallen for Tommy
Hearns, welterweight; Mic-
key Goodwin, middle-
weight, and Hilmer Kentz,
lightweight . . . All three
won their bouts two days
later . . . Tommy and
Hilmer by knockouts and
Mickey by unanimous deci-
sion.
It was a pool party but no-
body went swimming in the
new lavish Kallen pool .. .
Big submarine sandwiches
were "professionally" cut
with "professional" standby
. . . Manny Kamen, who had
his own deli in Wichita,
Kan. (Jewish population
100), did the cutting . . . If
needed, former deli owner
Leo Kaplan would have
helped out . . . but Manny
did a very capable job.
Shindig was on the large
outdoor patio with the
theme sound of "Rocky" giv-
ing forth and a cake with
squared ring and three
fighter doll characters.
THERE'S °NIA ONE
store anywhere that has
Zadie's Stain . . . that's how
exclusive it is . . . Dynamic
Paint and Wallpaper, on
Coolidge in Oak Park, has
the walnut oil stain .. .
named after Ricky Rosen's
(owner with wife Julie)
grandfather Cecil Rosen,
now retired . . . Cecil con-
cocted the stain 40 years ago
. . . Before having a name, it
was just called stain . . . and
because other people also
called Cecil "Zadie," that's
what Ricky wrote on the can
while working for him .. .
Now it has a label proudly
saying Zadie's Stain.
