movie, The Life of Brian."
Labeling the film "blas-
phemous and sacrilegious,"
leaders of the Rabbinical
Alliance of America, the
Union of Orthodox Rabbis of
the United States and
Canada, and the. Rabbinical
Council of the Syrian and
Near Eastern Sephardic
.community of America
endorsed a statement re-
leased Monday urging the
Jewish community to
boycott the film.
Rabbi Abraham Hecht,
president of the Rabbinical
Alliance of America said in
the statement released that
"It's a vicious attack upon
Judaism and the Bible and a
cruel mockery of Christians
as well."
The film, a box office
smash, is set in the 1st Cen-
tury during the time of
Jesus.

a library-conference room at the University of Michi-
gan Hospital. Named for Dr. Hamburger, the room
was/renovated with funds donated to the hospital by
Dr. Hamburger, who also will donate his collection of
books and papers on thyroid disease to the hospital.

Sinai Hospital of Detroit
has begun renovating and
modernizing the emergency
service area of the hospital,

announced Alfred
Deutsch, president of Sinai
Hospital board.
Already under way, the
reconstruction project is
stated for completion within
one year. Executive Vice
President IrVing A. Shapiro
stated that the cost of the
project is being supported
by a $500,000 donation from

the Capital Fund Division
of the United Foundation.
Some of the planned
improvements include a
new critical care area, an
expanded patient hold-
ing-observation area, an
advanced psychiatric
emergency service area
and additional examina-
tion and treatment
rooms. An enlarged wait-
ing room, which will ac-
commodate 50 patients
and visitors, also will be
added.
Along with the internal
expansion of the emergency
service area, major external
improvements such as a
new covered ambulance
entrance will facilitate the
entrance and exit of emer-
gency vehicles.
