Youth News

BNAI MOSHE Senior
United Synagogue Youth
will have a Kadima reunion
for members in the 1974-
1976 groups 6:30 p.m. Wed-
nesday, meeting 6:15 p.m.
at the synagogue, with the
party at the home of Gladys
Rockind, 3385 Middlebelt,
West Bloomfield.
The evening will include
dinner and swimming. Ad-
mission is free. For informa-

Michael Sabes has been

named the new adviser for
the senior USY. For infor-
mation on the group's ac-

Junior congregation,

New Program for Youth at SZ

Cong. Shaarey Zedek has
begun a new program for
youth called the Jewish In-
stitute for Youth, geared to
young people in grades
nine-12 who have not con-
tinued their religious school
education.
The Sunday morning
programs will begin with a
10 a.m. breakfast, followed
at 10:30 a.m. by a talk in the
Morris Adler Hall of the
synagogue.
The first program, 10:30
a.m. Sept. 16, will be "A

Jewish Multi-Media Ex-
perience," designed to
explore the dimensions of
living as a Jew in the mod-
ern world.
Subsequent programs
will be held Oct. 21, Nov.
4, Nov. 18 and Dec. 2.
There is a nominal fee for
the institute. Registra-
tion will take place at the
Sept. 16 meeting.

lightly. Bake uncovered for
one hour at 400 degrees.

L'Chaim AZA and
Theodor Herzl AZA of
Windsor walked off with
highest honors as recipients
of the Henry Monsky All-
Around Chapter Award at
the recent BBYO Interna-
tional Convention. Also
honored was Cathy Kaner
of Sabra BBG, who won the
Anita Perlman Community
Service Award.
Dina Noorily of Glazer
BBG won first place in the
BBG Originality Plus - Lit-
erature Contest. Program of
the Year honors went to
L'Chaim AZA, first place,
Chapter Community Serv-
ice, for its tapes for the
blind; Jack Benny AZA,
second place, Chapter
Community Service, for its
24-hour dance marathon for
Muscular Dystrophy; Herzl
AZA, first place, Chapter
Cultural, for its 50th an-
niversary weekend celebra-
tion; Sabra BBG, second
place, Chapter Cultural, for
its Sukkot program at the
Federation Apartments;
and the Great Lakes AZA
Council, first place, Council
Community Service for its
establishment in Israel of
the first AZA Council grove
trough the Jewish Na-
ional Fund.
Twenty-eight AZA and
BBG chapter presidents are
at the BBYO VIP Leader-
ship Camp, held at the
Charles and Florence Milan
BBYO Conference Centre
in Belle River, Ontario.
Marc Benovic of Benny
AZA and Linda Freund of
Shalom Aviv BBG have
been selected as chairmen
for the BBYO Fall Leader-
ship Conclave. The conclave
will take place Oct. 26-28 at
Camp Tamarack. Staff
