Hebrew U. Tribute Dinner

Alan E. Schwartz has
been named chairman of the
Hebrew University's forth-
coming tribute to Gov.
William G. Milliken, which
will be held at the Univer-
sity of Michigan, Ann Ar-
bor, Sept. 12, according to
Erwin C. Ziegelman,
president of the Michigan
Chapter, American Friends
of the Hebrew University.

Goldstein Named Bar-Ilan
Regional Executive Director

Appointment of Les
Goldstein as regional
executive director of the
American Friends of Bar-
Ilan University was an-
nounced this week by Phil-
lip Stollman, global chair-
man of the board of gover-
nors of the Israel university.
Stollman stated that in
addition to supervising the
activities of Detroit Friends
of Bar-Ilan University,
Goldstein will have charge
of activities in Ohio com-
munities and other states to
be assigned to him.
The Detroit post was held
for 20 years by the late Zvi
Tomkiewicz.
Goldstein, 31, is a
graduate of Berkley High
School and the Univer-
sity of Michigan. He
attended Hebrew Uni-
versity in Jerusalem as
part of the Junior Year
Abroad program and re-
turned to Israel as an
immigrant in 1970 after
graduating from U-M.
He worked for several
years in vocational re-
habilitation for Israel's
Ministry of Social Welfare,
and studied vocational re-
habilitation on the
graduate level at Bar-Ilan
University. '
He served in the artillery
corps of the Israeli Defense
Forces in 1975-1976.
While in Israel, Goldstein
married the former Dora
Harrar of Casablanca.
After returning to De-
troit, Goldstein worked for
the last two years for Bnai
Brith as fund-raising direc-
tor.
