City of Hope Businessmen
Feature Comedian at Affair

The City of Hope
Businessmen's Group's
67th annual dinner-dance
will be held 7 p.m. Sept. 16
at the Sheraton-Southfield
Hotel. Cocktails will be
served at 5:30.
Jan Murray, comedy star
of stage, screen and televi-
sion, will be the featured at-
traction at this year's
dinner-dance. Providing
music will be the Fenby-
Carr Orchestra.
This is the major fund-
ing activity of the year
the City of Hope
Businessmen's Group.
The City of Hope Na-
tional Medical Center in
Duarte, Calif., is dedi-
cated to patient care, re-
search and medical edu-
cation in catastrophic
diseases. Personalized
treatment is available
without charge on a
non-sectarian basis to
those suffering from
cancer and leukemia;

been appointed chairman of
this year's Stag Day, accord-
ing to Arthur Howard,
president of the Detroit
Service Group, which spon-
sors the day of fun and rela-
xation for Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund workers.
Invitations have been
mailed for Stag Day,
scheduled for Sept. 6 at
Tam-O-Shanter Country
Club. The day of golf, ten-
nis, cards and relaxation, is
capped by an awards
dinner, with prizes for
Campaign work and for golf

Meadow Brook Music Fes-
tival. Lawn tickets are

At 11 a.m. Saturday,
Meadow Brook will present
a special children's concert,
The Gingerbread Man — A
Ballet for Children," featur-
ing the Pastiche Wind
Quintet, and highlighted by
an original score by Martin
Kosins. Michelle Levine is
the choreographer. State
Sen. Jack Faxon (D-Detroit)
will narrate. There is a

Violinist Itzhak Perlman
will perform with the De-
troit Symphony Orchestra
