LISTENING
POST
EATING FRUIT has its
advantages in more ways
than one . . . plus a bit of
quick thinking and excel-
lent cooperation in this case
. . . Joann and Dr. Ned
Chalat, daughter and son-
in-law of Myron Steinberg,
were traveling in Europe
. . . mainly France . . . with
Denver, Colo. attorney son
Jim, who left for the U.S. a
week earlier than mom and
dad . . . About 500 miles in
the air, Jim discovered his
mother's passport . . .
quickly called a stewardess
and asked to talk to one of
the pilots . . . No problem,
he was assured, "I'll have it
back there in the morning"
. . Joann didn't know her
passport was missing and
the Welcome Desk at South
Orley Airport in France
called to tell her the Air
France pilot had dropped it
off for her.
How does fruit come into
this interesting picture? .. .
Joann had given Jim a bag
of fruit to eat on the plane
. . . He reached in for a
peach . . . and lo, there was
the passport.
GET WELL WISHES
. . . to Wanda Chaiken
(Paul) in Tampa, Fla.
SEPTEMBER WILL
BE ORT Month for Sandra
Myers Nail Clinic at North
Park Towers . . . 10 percent
of the entire take will go to
Women's American ORT
. . . Sandra is a member of
Artisans Chapter . . . En-
tire check can be made
out to Women's American
ORT . . . nail wrapping, nail
transplants, pedicures, etc.
Sandy has expanded her
operation to include the
former barber shop next
door . . . Previous room is
now for pedicures and a lit-
tle lunch room (screen sepa-
rates of course). . . . The new
quarters are big, bright and
cheerful . . . with large mir-
rored walls . . . There's now
even a Sandra Myers Nail
Polish to go with Sandra
Myers Nail Clinic, Sandra
Myers Technique, etc. .. .
All this in just one year as of
Aug. 1 . . . Sandy is quite a
remarkable person.
CONGRATS . . . to
Larry Light, promoted to
vice president at Meyer
Jewelry.
ANN WOOLF TOOK
daughter Margo Cohen to
son-in-law Allan Nicha-
min's office after Margo had
broken a bone when drop-
ping a chair on her foot
aboard the Cohen boat . . .
While there, Ann asked
Allan to take care of her foot
also — an ingrown toenail
. . . They were ready to go
home with both their right
feet taped up . . . Eric, son of
Margo and Maurice, volun-
teered to drive, but he's only
13 years . . . Margo had an
orthopedic shoe . . . and
drove . . . Then Ann made it
home herself with a frozen
foot.
. MAURICE LICHTEN,
son of Ethel and Jack
Lichten of Perfection
Jewelers in the Advance
Bldg., has graduated as a
gemologist from Gemologi-
cal Institute of America, in
Santa Monica . . . He now
works at Perfection with a
very proud mom and dad.
IT'S ALWAYS FUN
when the Raskiri family
(Schwartz, Grant, Rosen-
wach, etc., etc.) gets to-
gether at a simha . . . and no
difference recently when
cousin Carol Ann Raskin,
daughter of Hilda and
Elmer, married Michael
Damman at l‘raple Israel.
Dr. Felix Rosenwach
leading the Alley Cat dan-
cers . . . Loretta and Les
Drilich a fine looking couple
. . . Jack Caminker without
his pipe . . . Rabbis Leon
Fram and Robert Syme and
Cantor Harold Orbach
doing a great job . . . Morrie
Zucker dressed "conserva-
tively" in red and check jac-
ket and red pants . . . Fires
bursting out all over atop
the floral arrangements on
tables.
Catering by Sammy
Lieberman and Mark
Stein, now the exclusive
caterers at Temple Israel
in Palmer Park and when
the new building is com-
pleted on Walnut Lake
Rd. ... Excellent people
like very fine hostess-
manager Marion Brown
... with Sammy 19 years
. waitresses like Ann
Jackson, also with
Sammy 19 years Our
very efficient, smiling
waitress Michele Al-
bright ... Flowf-s at ta-
bles strangely given only
to appointed people ...
Dora ;74 chwartz the lone
survivor of what was once a
tightly knit brothers and
sisters togetherness . . .
Aunt Dora's brothers are
gone but very certainly not
forgotten . . . One of very
few affairs that Elmer
didn't sit down at a piano .. .
Good food, good fun and
most of all good being with
your family among the
other fine guests.

There's nothing to
match curling up with a
good book when there's a
repair job to be done around
the house.
