monies were held recently
at the site of the new edifice

The new building will be lo-
cated at Walnut Lake and
Green Roads in West
Bloomfield.
At the groundbreaking
ceremonies, Dr. Leonard
Gaba, president of the con-
gregation, traced the con-
gregation's history.

Completion of the
synagogue and social hall is
targeted for early 1980.

The Council of Orthodox
Rabbis — Vaad Harabonim
warns kashrut observers to
check carefully the ingre-
dients of commercially
manufactured crackers,
cookies or cakes.
Some of the items, espe-
cially crackers, include lard
as an ingredient. Kosher
consumers are urged by the
Vaad to look for the symbols
on the cracker packages
which assure that the prod-
uct is fit for consumption by
the kashrut-observing cus-
tomer. These symbols in-
clude the OU, K and COR.

doctoral candidate at the
Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America, will speak
on "A Jew in Poland in
1979," following 7:45 p.m.
