The Urim program has depended in large measure on American support. "To me, Urim represents a symbol of Israel's main strength and best hope," Lieberman said. "The secu- rity of that country can be protected only by a united, educated and prepared people, and the best guaran- tors of a safe future are the youth." Lieberman, a native De- troiter, is a practicing at- torney and a national leader in the Labor Zionist move- ment. Before World War II, he helped to organize the League for Labor Palestine at the request of Golda Meir. Lieberman is national vice president of AMPAL (American Israel Corpora- tion), chairman of the Mid- west Region of Histadrut and of the Histradrut Foun- dation. 'He is chairman of the Labor Zionist Alliance Midwest Region and serves on the board and executive committee of the national organization. He is one of the founders and now chairman of the Histadrut Campaign of Metropolitan Detroit. Lieberman is algo a member of the executive committee of the Jewish Community Council, chairman of the board of the Labor Zionist Insti- tute and a member of the board of the Jewish Vocational Service.
