ers here are negotiating the
purchase of the Labor
Zionist Institute on
Middlebelt, it was an-
nounced this week.
A legal agreement for the
sale of the building pre-
pared by Morris Lieberman
and Paul Zislin was ap-
proved and signed Monday
in behalf of the Chabad by
Rabbis Berel A. Shemtov
and Yitschak Kagan, offi-
cials of the Lubavitch
movement, and Irwin I.
Cohn on behalf of the lay
supporters of Chabad who
pledged to provide the funds
for the purchase.
Lieberman informed The
Jewish News on Wednesday
that the signed agreement
still is subject to approval by
the LZA board of directors.
He said the purchase would
not be consumated until
Sept. 1 and if the purchase is

Local Teens Join USY Israel Trip

A delegation of De-
troiters, including 21 youth
from Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
will participate in a United
Synagogue Youth pilgrim-
age to Israel.
More than 1,000 teena-
gers from- the U.S., Canada
and around the world will'
be in Israel for the event.
Under the direction of
Rabbi Paul Freedman, di-
rector of the United
Synagogue of America's de-
partment of youth activi-
ties, Karen Legman Segal
and Yitzchak Jacobsen, the
USY Israel Pilgrimage
combines aspects of touring
and study in Israel.
The Israel pilgrimage is

made up of 12 groupth
each of about 65
youngsters, with staf
from both Israel and
America. Each group is
based in Jerusalem as
well as in various field -
schools in the north and
south. In addition to
supervisors, teacher
and guides, each of the 12
groups travel with their
own medical personnel.
The trip, six weeks in du-
ration, exposes teenagers to
every aspect of Israeli life.'
One of the major highlights
of the trip is the tzedak:1
project, which introduces
young people to the mitzve_i.
of tzedaka.

at Shaarey Zedek Brunch

Dr. Henry Green of
Southfield received an
emeritus pin and certificate
denoting his 50th year in
practice. He was graduated
from the University of
Michigan Dental School.

He is a member of the De-
troit and Michigan Dental
Societies, Alpha Omega
Dental Fraternity locally
and - nationally and is past
president of the Jewish His-
torical Society of Michigan.

Weds in Israel

HERZLIYA, Israel — The
marriage of Leora Hordes,
daughter of former De-
troiters Mr. and Mrs. Her-
bert Hordes, to Shuki
Jacobi, took place here, at
the home of the bride's par-
ents, June 28.

The bride's sister, Mrs.
Yair (Tamar) Leizerowitz,
whose marriage took place
two months ago, and her
grandmother, Mrs. William
(Bella) Hordes of Detroit
and her aunt, Mrs. Edward
Wishnetsky of Detroit, were
in the bridal party.

Winners of the Meyer and Nathan Fishman Israel
