Southfield, MI 48076 New System Gives 'Check-Up' to Persons With Pacemakers REHOVOT — A new in- strument developed by a doctor at the Weizmann In- stitute of Science should be extremely helpful to the world's 200,000 patients whose lives depend on the accurate functioning of i m- planted pacemakers. According to the Istitute's "Interface" magazine, a "smaller-than-a-breadbox" automatic Pacemaker Function Analyzer (PFA) which facilitates frequent, reliable and uncomplicated check-ups has been de- veloped by Dr. Henryk Fis- chler of the Institute's Biological Ultrastructure Department, together with Dr. Salomon Behar in col- laboration with Prof. Henry N. Neufeld, both of Tel Aviv University's Medical School and Chaim Sheba Medical Center. The instrument has al- ready been tested suc- cessfully on hundreds of patients both during the critical post operative period and in subsequent follow-ups. A variety of essential pacemaker functions is automatically evaluated at the same time as the PFA scans electrocar- diograms for pacemaker performances — glowing green if all is in order, red if anything is wrong. _ Rabbi Explains "L'Chayim" Toast By RABBI SAMUEL J.
