natural resource utiliza-
tion, road building, indus-
trial parks, cement produc-
tion, airports, harbors, rail-
roads and oil exploration.
In the current campaign,
"$1 Billion for Peace," the
following allocations will be
made from Israel Bond
loans:
Energy, $270 million;
water, $130 million;
communications, $120
million; natural re-
sources, $100 million;
roads, $100 million;
industrial parks, $75 mil-
lion; cement production,
$70 million; airports, $60
million; harbors, $50 mil-
lion; railroads, $15 mil-
lion; and oil exploration,
$10 million.
Several projects are al-
ready ongoing in the many
realms in which Bonds pro-
vide assistance. For exam-
ple, a power station is to be
constructed at Zikim, pro-
viding 500 megawatts of
electric power for the new
plants factories, industries
and communities south of
Ashkelon. Other projects

include the expansion of
existing power stations.
The natural resource
funds will be used to set up a
program to increase produc-
tion of both phosphates,
ceramic clay and other de-
posits. A new cement plant ,
is under construction.
With the industrializa-
tion of the Negev, the need
for industrial parks and
complexes to accommodate
expanding industry was
felt.

Many water projects
are in progress with the
assistance of funds from
Israel Bonds. New proj-
ects deal with the exploi-
tation of underground
resources, water desali-
nation, recycled water
and fossil water, new
conduits and pipelines.

Shifting populations call
for new roads. Airport ex-
pansion and improvements
also fall under the Bond al-
location program. Harbor
maintenance and expansion
also receive aid with the
help of Israel Bonds.

Telecommunications are
expanded and updated, and
railroad maintenance and
growth also are provided for
with the aid of Israel Bonds.

In the area of oil explora-
tion, Israel Bond funds will
be used to search and de-
velop new drilling sites.
