The meeting,- held in cel- ebration of the historical society's 20th anniversary of its founding, was the scene of a number of special presentations. In honor of the anniversary celebra- tion, all past presidents of the historical society were presented with "Resolu- tions of Appreciation," rec- ognizing their service to the group. On behalf of Mrs. Irv- ing I. Katz, Aid Kushner ac- cepted the resolution to Irv- ing I. Katz, recently de- ceased executive director of Temple Beth El, who served as the JHSM's second president. A "Resolution of Com- mendation" was pre- sented to Dr. and Mrs. Charles W. Shull, a non- Jewish couple who have, for the past several years, volunteered to organize Jewish material in the Burton Collection, in- cluding more than 280 boxes and other forms of Temple Beth El material, and are currently or- ganizing the records of the Jewish Welfare Fed- eration of Detroit. Past president Irving I. Edgar gave a personal over- view of the past 20 years of the historical society.
