NEW YORK — The
American Friends of Me'or
Chaim, a recently-formed
umbrella organization in
Israel dedicated to that
country's economic stabili-
zation, has unveiled its
plans for a revolutionary
low-rental housing de-
velopment to open in Safed
in the fall. The 1000-unit
development, known as
Kiryat Me'or Chaim, repre-
sents a "major break-
through in the critical hous-
ing situation which besets
Israel," noted Rabbi Moshe
Ernster, U.S. representa-
tive for the organization,
"and will serve as a pro-
totype for other com-
munities throughout the
land."
