Israel, Egypt OK
Visa Procedures

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A
system whereby Israelis
and Egyptians will be able
to obtain visas to visit each
other's countries was
agreed to during Foreign
Minister Moshe Dayan's
talks with Egyptian offi-
cials in Cairo last week.
A special unit was estab-
lished by the ministry.
Under the agreement it will
act as a "consulate" for the
Egyptian Foreign Ministry
and pass on visa requests to
the authorities in Cairo.
They in turn would be ex-
pected to respond within
10-14 days. A similar proce-
dure would apply to Egyp-
tians seeking visas for Is-
rael.
The first Israeli tourists
in fact, arrived in Port
Said last weekend, all of
them with foreign
passports in addition to
their Israeli passports.
One young woman, how-
ever, had only an Israeli
passport but received an
Egyptian entry visa
nonetheless, when she pro-
duced a U.S. immigration
green card and said she was
completing naturalization
formalities in the U.S.
