Dayan Reveals Secret Contacts

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Foreign Minister Moshe
Dayan has disclosed pub-
licly for the first time the
secret contacts between Is-
rael and Egypt that led to
President AnWar Sadat's
historic visit to Jerusalem
in November 1977.
Reviewing his ministry's
work to the Knesset last
week, Dayan spoke of con-
cts having taken place fol-
wing Premier Menahem
egin's visit to Washington
in July 1977.
Meetings, such as the two
reportedly held in Morocco
between Dayan and top
Sadat aide Hassan To-
hamey, have frequently
been referred to in the press,
but were never officially
confirmed until now.

Dayan also spoke on
the merits of the Camp
David "Framework for
Peace," stressing that the
eventual peace negotia-
tions were to be held,
under the "framework,"
between Israel and Jor-
dan, with the Palesti-
nians involved in parallel
negotiations which
would also embrace
Egypt.
The peace treaty, and the
issue of borders, 'to em-
