More than 150 JFS-RS
volunteers act as trans-
lators for newly arrived
immigrants; shoppers,
drivers and visitors for the
elderly and handicapped;
and as visitors 'to the often
neglected residents of
nursing homes. Volun-
teers also manage the tele-
phone in the volunteer serv-
ices office.

Franklin Furman in a
ceremony at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. Rabbi Efry
Spectre officiated. The bride
is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Cherrin of Bir-
mingham. Parents of the
bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Leonard Furman of
Columbus, Ohio. The couple
is residing in Ann Arbor,
where Mrs. Furman attends
the University of Michigan.

Erica Anne Ward and

Ralph Joseph Gerson

were married in a recent
ceremony at The Madison in
Washington, D.C. Rabbi
Irwin Groner of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek in South-
field and Rabbi Stanley
Rabinowitz of Washington
officiated. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert E. Ward of Portola
Valley, Calif. Parents 'of the
bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. Byron H. Gerson of
Huntington Woods.
Attending the bride were
her sister, Mrs . Ronald
Warhurst, and Mrs. Terr-
ence Andrews, Mrs. Joseph
W. Cooper, Mrs. Barry Lon-
don, Michele Corash and
Christine. Freeman.
Matthew Gerson was his
brother's best man. Ushers
were Michael Kinsley,
Beret Sanden, Peter Turza,
Mark Siegel, Robert Smith,
Jared Stamell-Frank and
Barry London.
Marla Davidson and
Ethan Davidson were
flower girl and ring bearer.
The new Mrs. Gerson
was graduated from
Stanford University and
the University of Michi-
gan Law School, where
she was managing editor
of the Michigan Law Re-
view. Her husband was
graduated from Yale
University, received a
master's degree from the
London 'School of Eco-
nomics and was
graduated from U-M's
law school, where he was
an editor of the Michigan
Law Review.
Following a honeymoon
in France, the couple will
reside in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Max Rosenberg of
Oak Park was cited with the
Distinguished Alumnus
Award by Wayne State
University's College of
Education on May 24.

A former administrator
with the Detroit Public
Schools, Dr. Rosenberg has
authored more than 100 ar-
ticles on the treatment of
women and minorities in
learning materials and the
evaluation of school princi-
pals.
