in Journalism

Allen Wolf of Southfield
won two first place awards
in state-wide broadcast
journalism competitions.
Wolf won a first place
award for best documentary-
in the recent Associated
Press Broadcast News
Competition for his special,
"Prognosis: Vasectomy,"
which he wrote, produced
and narrated.
He took a first place-
award in the Detroit Press
Club Femdation's Profes-
sional Journalism Competi-
tion for the same documen-
tary.

awarded the Rosa Parks
Award by Women in Com-
munity Service at its an-
nual meeting in San An-
tonio. The Rosa Parks
Award is given in recogni-
tion of "extraordinary con-
tributions of ordinary
people."
Mrs. Weiner has been
president of the National
Council of Jewish Women
Juniors; national president
of NCJW; and a member' of
the boards of Hebrew Uni-
versity, Jerusalem; United
Community Services, De-
troit; American Israel Pub-
lic Affairs Committee; and
the National Center for
Voluntary Action.

Hirschmann Set to Speak
at ORT Reception for Bonds

bers and friends at a cham-
pagne reception honoring
Jeanette X. Miller, Michi-
gan Region ORT's "Woman
of the Year."

recipient of Israel's "Lion of
Judah" Peace -Award, "in
recognition of her outstand-
ing participation in the
ORT and Israel Bond pro-
grams."
The reception is being
held in cooperation with
State of Israel Bonds.
Hirschmann, a former
U.S. envoy in Turkey,
undertook a confidential
mission to the Middle
East in 1960 under the
auspices of the U.S. State
Department and the
United Nations. He vis-
ited all the countries
which surround Israel.
He later made a confiden-
tial investigation of the ref-
ugeeamps in the Arab
countries and in Israel for
the State Department.
