Israeli Writer Opposes Diaspora Influence
JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
A call to the Israeli govern-
ment to reject money from
the Jews of the Diaspora is
contained in an article by
the writer, A.B. Yehoshua,
in "Jewish Identity Today,"
a publication of the World
Zionist Organization.
Yehoshua writes: "There
are several practical con-
clusions and paths of action
to increase emigration from
. the Diaspora to Israel. If the
Israeli Prime Minister were
to appear at the opening
session of the Bonds appeal
and, instead of talking
about Israel, the territories
and our relations with the
U.S., would announce that
this year the state of Israel
is refusing to accept money
from the Diaspora because
it is angry that only money
immigrated to Israel and
not Jews, (or) if the state of
Israel were to stop sending
teachers, educators and
emissaries to a Jewish
community, which had
failed a minimal immigra-
tion quota, perhaps these
dramatics would impress
those toward whom they
were directed."
Yehoshua continues,
"A fairly large group of
(Diaspora) Jews has es-
tablished extremely close
relations with the leader-
ship of the state of Israel.
It is better acquainted
with the state's secret
problems than parallel

groups in Israel.
"For the price of five per-
cent of the state's budget,
the Diaspora bought its full
legitimatation. The Dias-
pora has become our ac-
knowledged intermediary
in our relations with world
governments, something
which we avoided in the
first years after the estab-
lishment of the state, and
rightly so, in my opinion."
The meeting will be held
in Philadelphia June 24-28.
