Donors Honored at SZ Hospital Dinner

The Detroit Friends of
Shaare Zedek Hospital held
their annual dinner on
Tuesday_ and honored a
number of Detroiters who
have made outstanding con-
tributions to the Shaare
Zedek Medical Center in
Jerusalem.
Irving Nusbaum, chair-
man of the Detroit Friends'
special gifts committee,
presented dedication
plaques to Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Cooper and Daniel S.
Cooper for their donation of
the X-ray archives in the
Institute of Radiology; to
the Rothschild and Hertz
families for the Assia Re-
search Project; and to Mr.
and Mrs. Sol Lessman for a
three-bed patient room in
the Department of Geriat-
rics.
Also, Mr. and Mrs.
David Herczeg for a
physician's office in the
Medical Research Suite;
Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Horowitz for the chief
nurse's office in the De-
partment of Obstetrics;
Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Platt and Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Platt for a patient
room; and Mr. and Mrs.
Morris Music for a duty
physician's room.

and four brothers, only she
and one sister remained
alive after being taken to
Auschwitz.
She met her future
husband, Michael, also a
survivor, after their lib-
eration and they were
married in 1946.
They came to Detroit in
1949 and Mrs. Weiss be-
came active in the United
Jewish Social Club.
Weiss announced the es-
tablishment of the grove at
this time since it commemo-
rates the yahrzeits of Mrs.
Weiss' family who perished
on Shavuot in Auschwitz.
Mrs. Weiss died one
month prior to the marriage
of her son, Arthur, to the
former Gayle Dorfman. The

chanted under the hupa in
