door concert series June 11
at Hotel Pontchartrain .. .

the first six weeks include

Messengers, Hugh
Masekela, Gerry Mulligan,
Stanley Turrentine, the
Fifth Dimension and the -

Austin-Moro Band, Brook-
side Jazz Ensemble, Jimmy
Wilkins and the New
McKinney Cotton Pickers
band.
P'Jazz concerts, held on
the Pontch poolside terrace,
will take place every Mon-
day and Wednesday (except
July 4) until Aug. 29 .. .
They run from 6 or 6:30 to
10 p.m. general admission
tickets at the door begin-
ning 5 p.m. the day of the
concert.
A special show featur-
ing Doug Jacobs and the
Red Garter Band has
been planned for 5 p.m.
June 29, which is Inter-
national Freedom Festi-
val's fireworks night.

his Sidewalk Cafe at the
Pontchartrain on Monday
will mark the arrival of
summer in downtown De-
troit for those who enjoy al-
fresco dining . . . It is the
12th year for the Sidewalk
Cafe, downtown's oldest .. .
located on the Jefferson
Ave. side of the hotel . . . It is
open Monday through Fri-
day 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Strolling musicians will
entertain for the first week
to celebrate the Sidewalk
Cafe's official re-opening.
