Junior Divison
Slates Seminar

Young adults, both mar-
ried and single, who would
like to learn about the ac-
tivities of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation Junior Di-
vision are invited to an In-
volvement Seminar 7:30
p.m. Wednesday in the
Whethersfield Apts. club
house, Birmingham.
The program will be
geared to persons who have
recently moved to the De-
troit area and to anyone in-
terested in learning about
the Detroit Jewish commu-
nity, said Junior Division
President Jonathan M.
Jaffa.
Those who attend the
meeting will be able to
meet with active mem-
bers of the division, a
year-round organization
for young adults which
offers a variety of educa-
tional, social and service
programs in addition to
fund raising for the Al-
lied Jewish Campaign-
Israel Emergency Fund.
Charles Schiff is chair-
man of the Involvement
Seminar. For information,

Named to State
Health Council

Lisa Grant has been ap-
pointed by Gov. William G.
Milliken to serve on the
Health Occupations Coun-
cil.
The governor appointed
her to serve as one of the
public members on the
council, which was recently
created by the legislature.
Mrs. Grant has served as
vice chairman of the South-
field PTA Council, has par-
ticipated in the Southfield
Beautification Committee;
and, in addition, has served
as vice president of Bnai
Brith, is a member of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek and the Na-
tional Council of Jewish
Women.
In addition, she has
worked on the Southfield
School Millage Committee
and has volunteered her
time for Muscular Dys-
trophy, March of Dimes and
the American Cancer
Society.

The 60th anniversary
meeting of the United He-
brew Schools will take place
8 p.m. June 12 in the main
UHS building, it was an-
nounced by Rose Kaye,
president.
At this meeting there will
be tributes to long-term
members of the board of di-
rectors, as well as the elec-
tion of one-third of the board
of directors and the officers
for the ensuing year.
The following names are
being placed in nomination
by the Nominations Com-
mittee headed by Dr. Bar-
bara Goodman for officers
for the year 1979-1980:
President, Rose Kaye; vice
presidents, Jerome Acker,
Marvin Hoffman and Renah
Bardenstein; secretary,
Melvin Seidman; treasurer,
Dr. Paul Feinberg; and
assistant treasurer, Albert
Lieberman.
Renominated to the
board for three-year
terms expiring June 1982
are: Debbie Altman, Dr.
Fred Averbuch, Ms. Bar-
denstein, Mitchell
Feldman, Shirley Garber,
Vernon Leopold, Abe
Pasternak, Seidman,
William Sherr and Julian
Tobias.'
Nominated to the board
for a three-year term are:
Betsy Loomus, Michael
Schwartz, Frederick
Kunick, David Tanzman,
Mark Eichner and Edwin
Shifrin.
Nominated to the board
for a two-year term ending

Seminar Slated

The Jewish Community
Center Library will present
a four-week seminar on
Jewish science fiction be-
ginning 8 p.m. June 25 in
the library of the main Cen-
ter complex.
Subsequent meetings will
be held July 2, 9 and 16. For
