If I feel I am a good Jew,
then who is anyone to tell
me I am not?
Is it the observant Jew,
pre-occupied in legal de-
tails, who consequently
ends up practicing pots-
and-pan Judaism? Does this
Jew have a moral aware-
ness and appreciation for
the sanctity of all life in his
devotion to the laws?
God, Torah and Israel
(Jewish peoplehood). Is a
good Jew expected to live
committed to all three? To
be a good Jew, is one ex-
pected to be both a member
of a people and a religion?
David Ben-Gurion was only
concerned with peoplehood,
not God or Torah. He made a
monumental contribution
to Jewish life.
A good Jew is expected to
be active in all three.
Jews are unwilling to
apply the excellence of
study to Judaism that fol-
low the standards of
study and practice and
commitment to any pro-
fession to be considered
accomplished in a field of
endeavor. Music,
medicine, law, education,
plumber, electrician,
basketball, baseball,
swimming, etc. Let us be
honest with ourselves,
and recognize that hav-
ing asserted that objec-
tive of standards, our
children have grown up
to respect anything but
Judaism.
We of Jewish faith are
commanded to survive as
Jews, lest the Jewish people
perish, and grant post-
humous victories to Hitler.
Remember the victims of
the Holocaust, lest their
memory perish.
The 1933-1945 Jew re-
sponded with the unex-
pected will to live, as incred-
ible commitment to Jewish
group survival. The Jewish
people live — to work at
reintroducing standards
into the lives of the people
