Mrs. Kozenn Chajes Honored by Austrians at Mozart Fete Representatives of the Austrian government joined with Austrian Con- sul in Detroit Norman Birnkrant in honoring Marguerite Kozenn Chajes Sunday at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. The occasion was the 20th anniversary of the Mozart concerts which were inau- gurated by the Pro Mozart Society of Detroit which was organized by Mrs. Chajes in 1956 on the 200th anniver- sary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mrs. Chajes was pre- sented with a gold medall- ion by Austrian Consul General Dr. Erich Kristen and Consul Birnkrant, who expressed appreciation for Mrs. Chajes' artistic endeavors and her efforts in sponsoring the Mozart con- certs. West German Consul Richard Wagner and Vice Consul Pauls were among the guests at a re- ception that followed the concert. In explanatory com- ments, Mrs. Chajes anno- tated the works of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Men- delssohn, Schumann, Liszt and Puccini which were in- cluded in the afternoon pro- gram.
