As in Sunday's ceremony,
the two new arrivals were
presented identity cards by
Absorption Minister David
Levy, making them full-
fledged Israeli citizens.
They were then hoisted on
the shoulders of the crowd
in a heroes' welcome.
Meanwhile, the five who
arrived Sunday had many
emotional reunions with
their families. Leib Khnokh
went to the apartment of his
aged parents in Migdal
Haemek where he saw for
the first time his eight-
year-old son Yigal. The boy
was born in Israel after his
mother left the Soviet

Kuznetsov repeated what
he said during his speech at

that his nine years in Soviet
prisons were easier because
he knew the entire Jewish
people was behind him.

Silva Zalmanson was
released by the Soviets in
1975 after serving five
years of her sentence.
She was released be-
cause of illness and de-
ported. She has been
campaigning ever since
for Soviet Jewry and her
husband's release.
Silva recently received a
two-year diary that was
written by her husband and
smuggled from his labor
camp. The diary was writ-
ten on toilet paper. An ear-
lier prison diary by Kuznet-
sov was published in 1973.
A section of the diary
stated:
"There is only a very
slight chance that this will
get out. In the last two
months, I have had 150
searches, including naked
body searches. My palliasse
was ripped; the covers were
torn from my books; my
boots were examined and
my notebooks and all my
letters confiscated. Mine de-
tectors were used on the
walls of my cell. I was in an
ice cold sweat each time
they approached my secret
hiding place."
A cable of congratula-
tions was received Tues-
day by Premier Begin
and President Yitzhak
Navon from six Russian
Jews of the Georgian
Province, among them
the Goldstein brothers.
In the cable, the Russians
noted that Israel could
now celebrate two joyous
happenings: the peace
treaty with Egypt and the
release of seven Pris-
oners of Zion.
They cautioned, however,
that the USSR's basic policy
toward aliya activists had
not yet changed, and that
the regime only secured the
release of prisoners when it
was to its advantage. "Ida
Anatoly
Nudel,
Vladimir
Scharansky,
Slepak and Lev Begun were
only a few of those who still
remain in Soviet prison for
their Zionist views," the
cable said.
Upon reaching the U.S.
over the weekend Hillel
Butman reported that
Shcharansky is suffering
from intense headaches in
Chistipol Prison, but his
spirits are "higher than the
sky."

Dead Sea Salts Available
for Purchase in the U.S.
CLEVELAND — The
Dead Sea Spa in Israel at-
tracts persons from the
Near East, Europe and all
over the world. Yet, anyone
can enjoy the benefits of a
dip in the Dead Sea without
leaving home.
The late Ben Porath, a re-
tired Cleveland business-
man who had spent much
time in Israel in the last few
years was troubled with an
arthritic condition in his
hands. Unable to get a
reservation at the Dead Sea,
he discovered it was possi-
ble to purchase the salts and
minerals which a govern-
ment facility extracted by
an evaporative process from
the sea. When dissolved in
warm water, just about the
same benefits could be de-
rived as from immersement
in the Dead Sea.
After soaking his
hands in the salt solution
for several days, Porath
experienced a consider-
able improvement in his
condition. Impressed by
the effect of the Dead Sea
salts, he arranged with
the Israeli facility for
shipment of several tons
to his warehouse in
Cleveland where it is
packaged for sale by di-
rect mail.
The Dead Sea Bath Salts
are sold in a carton of five
11/2-pound bags. For prices
or to order, write Dead Sea
Bath Salts, Inc., 2201 E.
18th St., Cleveland, Ohio,

bathers scoop them out in

The PLO was founded in
Egypt in 1964. It could
have been founded in Arab
Palestine since both the
West Bank and Gaza were
still under Arab rule.

member of the Hillel Day
School, in which he played a
key role in its inception. He
is involved in numerous
organizations including,
Pisgah Lodge of Bnai Brith;
Men's ORT; Jewish Na-
tional Fund, under whose
auspices he and his family
established a forest; Allied
Jewish Campaign; and City

Begin Defends
Dayan at Meeting
of Likud Faction
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Premier Menahem Begin
delivered a spirited defense
of Foreign Minister Moshe
Dayan at a meeting with
the Likud Knesset faction
in his office last week and
called on the Foreign Minis-
ter, presently on a tour of
the Far East, to remain in
his government.
"You have made great
contributions to the peace.
Stay on and make great con-
tributions to Israel's secu-
rity and welfare," Begin de-
clared addressing the ab-
sent Dayan.
The Premier was clearly
seeking to lay to rest rumors
of a serious rift between
himself and Dayan and was
expressing confidence in the
Foreign Minister whose res-
ignation has been de-
manded by some members
of Begin's own Herut fac-
tion.
They were infuriated
when Dayan recently
likened the juridical status
of the Golan Heights to that
of Sinai, an implication,
they believe, that Israel
would one day have to with-
draw from the Golan in
order to achieve peace with
Syria.
