26 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, April 21, 1919 Danny Raskin's LISTENING POST SHE COLLECTS OLD broken finger nails — any size or shape . . . and wraps nails on the hands of gals in coffee filter paper . . . But Sandra Myers, daughter of Nancy and Martin Myers is one of the most highly- versed people around in nail wrapping and -nail trans- plants . . . So much, in fact, that she herself is available only on Wednesdays and Thursdays. However, Thesdays and Wednesdays are devoted to a course Sandy has for man- icurists to learn all there is to know about these proc- esses . . . and they gain val- uable, practical experience by working on people the two days that she is at work on her own customers and supervising the students. It's called the Sandra Myers Nail Clinic at North Park Towers' concourse and Sandy is becoming known as a highly proficient and most integral nail doctor. If you have any broken-off pieces of nail, don't throw them away . they can be used to make some gal mighty thrilled as she lifts her glass of wine with nails of loveliness. The nail wrapping proc- ess is also a very special art . . . Many profess to know how it's done, but few do it properly . . . Sandy is highly skilled in her art . . . and in- deed it is an art . . . She uses paper from coffee filters be- cause of their strength .. . and other very ingenious techniques that put her much above others . . . San- dy's mind is always working . . . ideas are like the con- stant tickings of a clock .. . Wouldn't be surprised to see a chain of Sandra Myers Nail Clinics in the near fu- ture . . . Her nail tech- niques program is among the very best. By the way, having her gals, all professional, licensed manicurists, beautify nails of lassies with a wrap or set of tips is half the price as that charged by Sandy, whose clientele includes celeb- rities and people who come in to see her from out-of- town. But for Sandra, the biggest thrill of her lifetime has nothing to do with nails ... She always dreamed of owning a tri- ple white Eldorado Cadil- lac . . . One day, Sandy saw one, put her card on it with the note, "If you ever want to sell this, please call me." ... Two months later, she got the call . . . and is now the happy owner of a 1975 car of her dreams. Think she'll stop here? .. . Not this girl . . . Sandy's got a lot more dreams to fulfill . . . and probably will. NATE GOLDEN SAID, "Now you look like a human Sophie Fordon Exhibits Works Regatta Slated by Yacht Club being" to Mike Kelly at Honeywell Barbers, who had shaved off all the foliage on his face . . . But Mike's wife thinks other- wise . . . They've been married 14 years and the last 13 had him hidden be- hind a mustache and beard . . . "Now you look like the man I married," she exclaimed after seeing him. - GET WELL WISHES ... to Rose Markovitz .. . home recovering from her successful open heart surgery. IF THERE IS any more evidence needed that Knights of Pythias, Detroit Lodge 55 is still very much alive, one of the largest crowds ever to attend was at its 23rd annual "Third Seder" . . . almost 100 people . . . really something to behold . . . For chairman Alex Rubin and his commit- tee it was an extremely gratifying experience .. . Even wife Faye Rubin pitched in to help . . . and after all, what more experi- ence is :seeded than her put- ting on Seders two nights for 45 people . . . Sam Got- tesman made kidush for the wine . . . barrister Mil- ton Hubert gave the mean- ing of Passover . . . and six- year-old Jennifer Scherr, there with grandparents Ida and Herb Scherr, asked the Four Questions. To Alex Rubin goes a world of credit for a job very well done . . . His commit- teemen were Max Seffinger, Ben Perlove and Nat Fields. The elder statesmen members of this honored organization can be very proud of its members of to- day. SO MANY FOLKS re- member Dr. Bernard Birnbaum as the pediatri- cian who brought their chil- dren and their children's children in to the world .. . Dr. Birnbaum is 83 years old now and sort of forgotten . . . at the Alexander Home on Fourth St. in Royal Oak . . . Wouldn't it be nice if a lot of those kids wrote to him?
