▪ THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS 10 Friday, April 21, 1919 Summer Arts Festival Set PLO Harasses YIPME Pickets at Movie Showing NEW YORK — Nearly 30 high school and college vol- unteers from the Youth In- stitute for Peace in the Mid- dle East were physically and verbally harassed while distributing literature at the showing of the film The Palestinian," on the Uni- versity of Pittsburgh cam- pus. Representatives of the Palestinian Solidarity Committee and the Anti- Imperialist Union, who sponsored the Vanessa Redgrave film, blocked the YIPME literature table with their bodies while sh- outing anti-Semitic state- ments at the leafleteers. YIPME in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh Hillel Club, re- served space for a literature table in the lobby of the hall where the film was to be shown. Leaflets were handed out to all those going to view the film. When the groups sponsor- ing the event realized what was being distributed, they began to converge on the YIPME table. The statement appears in a new monograph, "Whose Jerusalem?," published by Bnai Brith. Spectre makes the "case" for Israel, tracing Jerusalem's long history and spelling out its mean- ing to Jews. Except for brief periods when Jews were for- cibly expelled, there was never a time when a Jewish community did not exist in Jerusalem, Spectre says. For copies of the mono- graph, write the Bnai Brith International Council, 1640 Rhode Island Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036. There is a charge: - Philharmonic Orchestra. Performances will take place in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, at the Weiz- mann Institute in Re- hovot and at the recon- structed Roman Theater at the Mediterranean port of Caesarea.
