HEIDI'S
SALONS
were announced at the an-
nual meeting of the Detroit
Men's ORT Chapter, held
Sunday at Shaarey Zedek,
by Irving Nusbaum, who
was re-elected president of
the chapter.
In his annual report,
Nusbaum told of the
cooperative efforts in plan-
ning the testimonial func-
tion, with leaders in ORT,
Hebrew University, Bnai
Brith and other national
movements participating.
The dinner will serve as an
occasion to mark the ORT
centennial.
In his annual report,
Nusbaum placed em-
phasis on the support re-
ceived by ORT in the
form of many schol-
arships, especially the
gifts now being made for
the ORT College of
Engineering established
on the campus of the He-
brew University in
Jerusalem.
Dr. Haber, in the princi-
pal address of the meeting,
paid tribute to two great
world personalities, Gen-
eral Lucius Clay and Golda
Meir.
As Jewish adviser to
General Clay on World War
II refugees, Dr. Haber had
close contacts with the
American military leader
who was responsible for the
fate of displaced persons
and survivors from Nazism.
Dr. Haber said that the
American military leader
displayed great compassion
for the survivors and had a
sympathetic interest in Is-
rael's upbuilding.
Dr. Haber also told of the
support ORT had received
from Golda Meir.
At 80, Dr. Haber said,
he continues his labors
for the causes in which he
is involved.
