Acting in response to
complaints by students at
Wayrie State University,
the Jewish Community
Council contacted the deans
of WSU Law School and the
University of Detroit Law
School to inform them that
publicity for a symposium
entitled "The Sami Esmail
Affair — Nightmare in the
Holy Land" gave the im-
pression that the program
was being sponsored by the
schools. The deans of both
schools denied any partici-
pation or sponsorship.
Alvin Kushner, executive
director of the council, said
it was learned that the
sponsors were apparently
the International Law
Societies of the two law
schools and in neither case
was the law school itself in-
volved.
The council has suggested
that guidelines be estab-
lished at the schools for
organizational publicity so
that this type of misleading
information will not be re-
peated.

Saves a Life

George Glassman, son of
Jerry Glassman, owner of
Glassman Olds in South-
field, used CPR - — cardio-
pulmonary resuscitation —
to save the live of a cus-
tomer who suffered a heart
attack in his father's
dealership.
Aided by Andrew Her-
nandez of the service de-
partment, Glassman was
able to keep customer Sol'
Scholnick breathing until
the Emergency Medical
Service arrived.
According to Ernestine
Horwitz, secretary to the
senior Glassman, the two
young , men learned the
CPR method from
firefighters who visited
the dealership to teach
the employees the life-
saving action.
Glassman's secretary
said Scholnick survived the
heart attack.
