Wayne State University senior Yuri Rabinovich, who emigrated from the Soviet Union in 1971, led WSU last weekend to the 1979 National Collegiate Athletic Association fenc- ing championship. Rabinovich, who won the individual sabre title for WSU in 1975, defeated two-time champion Mike Sullivan of Notre Dame in a fence-off to win the sabre ti- tle. Although Sullivan had defeated Rabinovich in an earlier bout, both had finished the competition with 21-2 records, forcing the fence-off. WSU won the team title with 119 points.
